AWS User Group Naples. A challenge for the SOUTH
With utopian goals of wanting to wake up the SOUTH of Italy and to want to create a center of excellence on Cloud Computing, where Universities and Companies can continuously interface to make development and innovation, we have created the AWS User Group Naples which has a meetup as its first link but which has developed much more as a Facebook fan page.
Here is the description of the group:
The group was created to spread the use of cloud computing in the fabric of Neapolitan, Campania and Italian SMEs. The economic logic of the onDemand (pay per use) paradigm and fast procurement applied to computational power. Meetings will be organized to share experiences, use cases, technical issues or problems, statistics. During the meetings there will be LIVE sessions on the use of Amazon AWS services, other Cloud Computing solutions will also be discussed, both Public and Private, where possible a demo-session will always be organized.University research structures will also be involved in the matter.
In addition, depending on the number of subscribers, it will be possible to invite foreign evangelists known in the field of Cloud Computing.
The goal is to create a fabric of relationships and exchange of know-how to develop a center of excellence on Cloud Computing
After having received official recognition from Amazon by publishing the link on the User Groups page http://aws.amazon.com/usergroups/ we have set the place and date of the first meeting.
The meeting will be held on January 7, 2010 at 15:00 in the fabric par excellence of technological innovations of Naples, Business Innovation Centre of Città della Scienza in Bagnoli and all the meetings will always be organized here on a monthly basis.

- Demo – use of EC2 and EBS services. Instantiate an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) using various methods by starting from scratch and attaching a disk volume (Elastic Block Storage) to it
- Case Study – AutoScalability of a Facebook App, Use of ELB, AS, SDB, EC2 Services
